LAKESIDE - On Friday, Mingus Union High School track and Field competed in the Blue Ridge Invitational at Blue Ridge High School. Both Mingus' boys and girls finished fifth out of 19 schools. The Marauders boys scored 52 and the girls scored 42.

Marauders beat Bradshaw 8-3
COTTONWOOD - Sometimes a team just has another team's number. Going into Tuesday, Bradshaw Mountain High School baseball had Mingus Union High School's number.

But, not anymore. The Marauders beat the Bears 8-3 at home. Head coach Bob Young said this is the first time Mingus has beat the Bears since 2010.

Verde Valley throwers among best in Arizona
One year ago, two Verde Valley track and field athletes were considered among the best throwers in the state.

Mingus' Heather Calandra won the Division III state championship in the shot put with a massive throw of 44 feet, 6.25 inches. Sedona-Red Rock's Gabriella Simon was the state champion in the discus with a throw of 116 feet, 4 inches.

SEDONA -- Mingus Union High School track and field competed in the Red Rock Invitational at Sedona Red Rock on Saturday.

The highlight on the girls side was Allison Whitworth, who finished first in the pole vault with a jump of 9 feet 3 inches.

COTTONWOOD - Mingus Union High School softball has had an up and down season so far. On Friday, the Marauders lost 1-0 at home against Flagstaff High School.

The game was a classic pitchers' duel. Flagstaff pitcher Taya Mortensen pitched all seven innings, gave up just one hit.
