Marauders take down Tuba City
he Mingus Marauders have been on fire since coming back from Christmas break, winning nine of ten games since January 4. After their 79-69 victory over the Tuba City Warriors Tuesday night the Marauders cracked the Top-10 in the Division III power point rankings, improving their record to 18-7 overall this season.

Desert Thunder 16U just keeps winning
Back on January 16 and 17, the Desert Thunder 16U softball team won the Triple Crown Sports Super Bowl Championship held in Phoenix. This win earned the team a spot at the Triple Crown World Series in Park City, Utah this summer.

The Mingus Marauders boys basketball team sealed at least a share of the Division III Section IV title Friday night with another convincing win. This time the No. 44-ranked Fountain Hills Falcons were the victims as the Marauders took home a 78-65 victory.

Tuesday night the Mingus Marauders boys' soccer team celebrated the final home game of seniors Uriel Delgado, Elijah Clark, Jose Lopez, Luis Hernandez, Martin Hernandez, Cristian Lazaro, Jesus Lopez and Sean Williams with a 6-1 routing of the Sunrise Mountain Mustangs.

Wednesday night the No. 13-ranked Marauders took to the road to take on the No. 50-ranked and sectional foe the Independence Patriots. The Marauders (7-5 overall) (6-2 in section) got off to a slow start and fell behind early Mingus Head Coach David Beery said.

The Mingus Marauders Wrestling team hosted their first meet Wednesday afternoon, hosting teams from Coconino, Monument Valley and Chinle. The Marauders earned two victories, defeating Monument Valley and Chinle by scores of 44-30 and 42-21. The Mingus grapplers only suffered one loss on the night to the visiting Coconino Panthers by a score of 66-15.

Elks Hoop Shoot competition held at Camp Verde
The Elks Hoop Shoot Contest originated back in Corvallis, Oregon in 1946 by Frank Hise, a Past Grand Exalted Ruler of the fraternal organization. In 1958, the Elks' Oregon State Association took it to the state level. In 2015 nearly three millions kids ages 8 through 13 competed in the nationwide competition.

Cobras hold off late Marauder charge
Along with Friday came a cold night on Bright Field and Mingus Union High School where the boys' soccer team took on sectional foe the Cactus Cobras in a match that would go down to the closing moments. The Marauders ended up on the losing end of a 2-1 score, but late in the game had a couple chances and calls not go their way.

Marauders take down Prescott, fall to Deer Valley
When you pin two top 20-teams against each other, you are going to witness a great game any night of the week. Tuesday night, the No. 11 Mingus Marauders (13-6 overall) and the No. 21 Prescott Badgers (9-8 overall) did just that, giving the fans at the Dome a show for 32-minutes, resulting in a 91-68 win for the visiting Marauders.
