Mingus girls shut out Prescott
Mingus Union High School girls soccer has long been a successful program. But, the Marauders had a rough time in the first game. The team lost 2-1 on the road against Arcadia High School (Phoenix). Thursday, the team bounced back and beat Prescott High School 1-0.

Mingus boys soccer beats Sedona, Glendale Prep
Mingus Union High School boys soccer began its season with a loss. But, things have changed for the Marauders.

Saturday, Mingus won its third consecutive game. The Marauders won 2-0 at Sedona Red Rock High School. The game was called early because of bad weather.

Mingus Union High School girls basketball gained an impressive win last week against Sedona Red Rock High School. But, the Marauders haven't fared as well since. Earlier in the week, the team lost at home against Flagstaff High School. Thursday, Mingus lost at home, 54-42 to Payson High School.

As of Dec., 10th, 2014, the Mean Machine 9U baseball team finished their current 2014 season ranked 2nd in the state among all other 9U AA programs according the USSSA organization points system.

Mingus Union High School wrestling isn't doing great as a team lately. Last weekend, the Marauders wrestled in a tournament at Flagstaff High School. They finished 13th overall. But, were able to defeat Northland Preparatory Academy 56-12 in the final round.

Mingus Union boys soccer lost its first game to Mohave. But, the Marauders responded well in their second game. They beat Coconino High School 2-1.

Mingus wrestling finds ways to win without two key wrestlers in four-way match at Monument Valley
Mingus Union High School wrestling traveled to Monument Valley High School Tuesday. The Marauders faced Monument Valley, Page High School and Pinon High School. The Marauders finished second to Page. The scores were: Mingus beating Monument Valley 42-37. The Marauders defeated Pinon 54-12. But, Mingus lost to Page 45-27.

Marauder boys basketball doesn't start in well in first tournament
Mingus Union High School boys basketball started its season with two games in a tournament last Monday and Wednesday. The games were played at Williams Field High School in Gilbert. The games didn't go ideal for the Marauders. In fact, they lost both.

Aftershock runners claims region title
The athletes of Aftershock Distance Club made their return to Buffalo Park in Flagstaff this past weekend for the USA Track & Field Region 10 Cross Country championships. The club came away with a pair of firsts. Their first ever team regional championship and their first ever individual region champion.

Cottonwood fire department shows Marauder athletes what it takes
Very few people go on to play sports for their career. But, athletics can be similar to some careers. On Tuesday and Thursday, Cottonwood Fire Fighters trained the athletes at Mingus Union High School. This was a part of the sports performance class, taught by Mingus head football and baseball coach Bob Young. This tradition has been going on for about six years. It was started by Cottonwood Fire Captain Troy Hoke. Over the years, several Mingus athletes have become Cottonwood fire fighters.

Mingus Union High School boys soccer season is starting soon. The Marauders are hoping to build from last season. Last year, Mingus went 11-3 and won a State playoff game. On Thursday, the Marauders had a scrimmage against Bradshaw Mountain High School. That was the Marauders' first and last live action until Tuesday when they start their regular season at Mohave High School.

New faces, high expectations for Mingus wrestling
Mingus Union High School wrestling season is almost here. The Marauders have some big expectations. Mingus has some very experienced wrestlers.

But, the most interesting story line of the season may be how some of their new wrestlers do. The Marauders have some upperclassmen who are great athletes, but haven't wrestled before. Two of them are junior Jordan Upham and senior Javin Helsel. Both are new to Mingus wrestling. But, both are hoping for big things.

First-year head coach David Beery certainly has playoff experience. In three years as coach of Grand Canyon High School, his team made the playoffs each season.

Middle School and Elementary wrestling tournament at Mingus
Saturday, Mingus Union High school hosted a wrestling tournament of middle school and elementary school wrestlers. Here are how some of the Cottonwood Middle School and Cottonwood Elementary finished. Kai Miller, 63 pounds, 5-1 third place. Elijah Miller, 68 pounds,5-0 champion. Isaac McKean 78 pounds, 4-1 second place.
