Alhambra Last Chance
It was the last chance for any athletes to qualify for the State Meet next Friday and Saturday as a select few from both the Camp Verde Cowboys and Mingus Union Marauders took to the track & field Wednesday afternoon at Alhambra High School.

This past weekend the Arizona Interscholastic Association Division II Boys and Girls Tennis State Playoffs began. Each team is allowed to send one singles player and a doubles team to compete in the Singles and Doubles State Playoff brackets.

Tyler Kelly went 2-for-2, walked once, and hit a Grand Slam in the bottom of the 3rd inning as the No.5-ranked Mingus Marauders ended their regular season play, winning nine-straight power point games.

Marauders take control of top spot in Division III Section I with 13-5 win over the Payson
Friday afternoon the No. 7-ranked Mingus Marauders took on the No. 15-ranked Payson Longhorns for the second time in just over a week and for Head Coach Bob Young and Mingus, sometimes if something isn't broke, you don't fix it as the Marauders went on to punish the Longhorns 13-5 to take control of Division III Section I.

As the season comes to a close, every win counts and after losing to the No. 7-ranked Snowflake Lobos, 5-4, in the Estrella Foothills' Wolves Classic, the Marauders weren't going to allow it to happen again.

Gunner Bundrick was 2 for 2 with an RBI sacrifice fly, Bobby Simonds was 3-4 with two runs scored, but Marauder cleanup hitter Gus Henley hit a three-run homer in the fifth to put the game out of reach for the Bears in a 7-2 loss to Mingus Union on Monday afternoon.

Aftershocks' Arellano holds her own at Mesa Classic
In a track meet highlighted by collegiate athletes, Aftershock Distance runner Allyson Arellano showed that she can succeed at all distances, turning in great performances in both the 800 meter race and the 1500 meter race. Aftershock Head Coach Micah Swenson said they have been trying to focus on these two events and the 3000 meter race for track season.

Junior first-basemen Mitchell Lindsay went 4-for-4, driving in two runs, and sophomore southpaw Jordan Huey struck out eight, including six of the first seven batters he faced, Tuesday afternoon as the No. 12-ranked Mingus Marauders took down the No. 13-ranked Holbrook Roadrunners, 8-1, to improve to 2-1 in Division III Section I play.

As the Northern Arizona Women's Golf Team began their annual Medallion Tournament at the Verde Santa Fe Golf Course in Cornville, the 14 women competing were joined by 13-year-old Cooper Neil, in town from Snoqualmie, Washington visiting his grandmother.

Mingus out slugs Paradise Valley
Mingus Softball tallied 17 hits and 17 runs Tuesday afternoon at Paradise Valley High School, as the Marauders earned their second Division II Section II victory of the season over the Paradise Valley Trojans.

In the biggest section of Division II, the Marauders now sit tied with two other teams with a 2-3 record, the Panthers of Coconino.

And none benefited more than senior middle distance standout Megan Goettl.

Aftershock Crew set personal bests at Phoenix Invitational
Great competition brings out great results, and this weekend the Aftershock Distance running team competed at the 52nd Annual Phoenix Invitational at Mesa Community College. With over 2,000 athletes, there was plenty of great talent on display throughout the two-day event, and the Aftershock group was a part of that great display of talent.
