Gus Henley earns Division III 1st team All-Division nod
If you attended any Mingus Baseball games this year, there was probably one reoccurring theme you saw over and over again. Pitchers were rotated and players were moved around the infield and outfield, but it was a rarity not to see catcher Gus Henley behind the plate, relaying pitch signals and keeping his pitchers calm and collected when needed.

Many softball programs go through rebuilding seasons. For the Mingus Marauders 2016 was one of them, they battled through the injury of staff ace Krista Earl and finished with a record of 6-20-1 in a tough Division II.

Dan Razo prepares to break World Record for 4th time in bench press
"One day my dad asked me if I would rather be a singer or a bowler," 42-year-old Dan Razo said after finishing up another rep on the bench press at the Cottonwood Recreation Center. "I told him neither, I want to be a weight-lifter. Cause that's my No. 1 goal, to be a weightlifter."

Marauders fall to Alhambra, 8-7, to end State Title run
There were two outs in the top of the 7th inning and the No. 5-seeded Mingus Marauders had runners on 1st and 3rd, trailing the top-seeded Alhambra Lions by just one run. The Marauders had closed the gap to 7-5 after a three-run 6th inning after Tristan Clark plated Zack Abrigo and Andrew Kulis with a bases clearing double.

Four weeks ago, the No. 5-seeded Mingus Marauders took down the No. 1-seeded Alhambra Lions 3-1 in a Division III power point rankings game that really had no consequences other than one team moving up in the rankings and one moving down.

Marauders earn three medals at State Meet
They didn't bring home any State Championships but the Mingus Marauders Track and Field team turned in some pretty great performances Friday and Saturday at Mesa Community College for the AIA Division III State Track Meet. Snowflake took home the title on the boys side with a total of 89.5 points and Fountain Hills earned the top honors on the girls side with 91 points.

At this point in the AIA Division III State Playoffs the No. 5-seeded Mingus Marauders have been delayed or canceled due to rain twice, both times those games resulted in a come-from-behind victory for the Marauders in their final at-bats.

No. 5 Marauders take on No. 4 Kofa Kings
No. 5-seeded Mingus Union escaped the second round of the AIA Division III playoffs with some late inning heroics from senior center-fielder Tristan Clark, leading to a 5-4 win over the No. 12-seeded Washington Rams. That victory has led them to a quarterfinals matchup with the No. 4-seeded Kofa Kings.

Friday night was just the start of the fun for the No. 5-seeded Mingus Marauders as they trounced their cross-county rival No. 28-seeded Chino Valley, 10-0, in six-innings of play to move on to the second round of the AIA Division III State Playoffs at the Surprise Sports Complex.

The AIA Division III State Track Meet begins on Friday, May 6, at Mesa Community College and the Mingus Marauders will be taking a total of 12 athletes to compete in 17 different events. Many Marauders cracked the top 10 rankings of their individual events this season

Tyler Kelly went 2-for-2, walked once, and hit a Grand Slam in the bottom of the 3rd inning as the No.5-ranked Mingus Marauders ended their regular season play, winning nine-straight power point games.
