Marauders maul Bulldogs, 55-7
KINGMAN - It was all Mingus all the time as the Marauders took it to Kingman Friday to ruin the Bulldogs' Homecoming in a Division III, Section IV contest, 55-7.

Mingus (4-4, 3-1 Section IV) led at the end of the first half 34-7 after a 14-0 first quarter.

Marauders football looking better; travels to Kingman looking for win
Mingus Union High School football (3-4) overall (2-1) in section play looks much better than earlier this season. This week, the Marauders will travel to Kingman High School. There is reason to believe the Marauders' success will continue. The Kingman Bulldogs are (0-7) overall and (0-3) in section play.

With just a few weeks left, Mingus swimmers hope for big things
High school swimming season is about three weeks from State. Several Mingus Union High School swimmers are hoping to make it. Last Thursday, the team had a meet at Coolidge High School. The Marauders have two more meets before State.

Head coach Gretchen Wesbrock said some swimmers who have a chance to make it are juniors Sean Willams and Caleb Furey. Freshman Gunner Tillemens also has a good chance. On the girls side, senior Leah Mount looks like the strongest possibility.

Friday at Mingus Union High School, the Marauders and the Bears faced off. Bradshaw is the defending section champions.

On the Run
In last weekend's Four Corners Invitational in Flagstaff, Mingus sophomore Brianna Epperson ran her first race as a Marauder in the open division race and came up big in 9th place in 22:16 for the 3-mile course. This weekend at the Bradshaw Mountain Invitational, Epperson will be make a run at a varsity spot.

Marauders hope momentum carries into section play
Simply put, Mingus Union High School football looked like a much different team last Friday. The same Marauders who had last all three of their previous games by at least 26 points dominated North High School (Phoenix) at home 40-14.

Non-conference games are over. Now, section play begins.

Mingus runners show steady improvement in Four Corners Invitational
FLAGSTAFF - The Mingus Union cross country teams ran into the toughest competition of the young season Saturday and veteran coach Jim Bostwick summed things up this way:

"A very positive day for Mingus."

The Mingus girls ran to a fourth-place finish in the reservation-dominated 23-team field, while the boys team was 7th overall.

Mingus swimmers look to progress early in the season
The sport of swimming is an individual sport. But there is still a team aspect to it. The Mingus Union High School swimming team is hoping to be good in both this season.

The Marauders have had two meets so far. The first was at home against Flagstaff High School and Arete Preparatory Academy. The second was against North Pointe Prep and Bradshaw Mountain at Bradshaw Mountain. Head coach Gretchen Wesbrock said she thought her team performed well.

Verde Valley Heat's winning streak continues
The Verde Valley Heat Elite 14-U's fast pitch softball team started off their fall season just like they closed out their summer season, with another tournament championship at the ASA End of Summer Madness Tournament at Rumsey Park in Payson on Sept. 13-14. With this win, the team has taken the championship trophy in their last three tournaments, with a 15-0 record in those competitions.

COTTONWOOD -- Mingus volleyball hadn't got off to a great start. The team was 0-2. The Marauders lost both of the matches 3-0. But, Friday night things went much better. Mingus beat the Mohave (Bullhead City) High School Thunderbirds 3-0.
