AIA releases first rankings for 2015 season
On Tuesday, the Arizona Interscholastic Association released their first football rankings of the year for Division's I-V. The rankings determine seeds for the top 16 teams for Division's I-V. If the playoffs were too start on Tuesday, the Mingus Marauders and Camp Verde Cowboys would be on the outside looking in

After defeating Page and Mayer last week, the Mingus Marauders Volleyball team was on a two-game win streak coming into Tuesday's match, with the Sedona Red Rock Scorpions. In Saturday's Doug Conley Invitational, the objective was not top-end performance for all of his runners.

Rather, it was to run as a team, "trying to keep pack together as long as possible," explained the veteran Mingus cross country coach.

Tuesday night the Camp Verde Cowboys boys' soccer team traveled to Chino Valley to take on the two-time defending state champions. The Cougars who have yet to lose this season, took down the Cowboys earlier this season by a score of 5-0 on their way to taking home the Chino Cup.

Aftershock Distance club competes at Dave Murray Invite against D-1 athletes
On Friday evening the Aftershock Distance Running club competed at the Dave Murray Invite at the Del Ulrich Golf course in Tucson, Arizona. Penny Fenn led the way for Aftershock, finishing the mostly grass three-mile course in 18-minutes and 27-seconds. Aftershock Coach Micah Swenson said that Fenn executed her race plan in "tremendous fashion."

Mingus Swim competes at Wolves Classic
On Saturday, the Mingus Marauders swim team traveled to Chandler to compete at the Wolves Classic, and the first qualifying meet of the year. 44 teams competed at the Mingus boys placed 23rd out of those 44 teams, which were mostly Division 1 schools, Mingus is a Division II program.

Last week, Camp Verde Head Football Coach Steve Darby said their loss to Globe may have been a turning point in the season. His Cowboys backed up that statement Friday night earning their first victory of the year, 50-0 over the Pinon Eagles. "Belated" was how Darby described the feeling after their first win of the season.
