TKD Unlimited Black Belt Graduation scheduled for July 26
This July marks the 10th Black Belt Graduation to come from the TKD Unlimited Studio. This year's graduates hold a special place in the TKD family because they have been apart of the studio since some of them were 5 years old.

District Champions
The Verde Valley's 9-10 year-old softball team captured District Tournament championship in Wickenburg. In the first game, Verde Valley defeated Williams 14-0 in four innings, with pitcher Chloe Shults on the mound. In the second game, Verde Valley defeated Bagdad 11-0, with Carah Shilling on the mound, and in the championship game defeated Bagdad a second time 11-2 in 5 innings. Courtesy photo

The Verde Valley 9-10 year old Little League team claimed the District 10 championship with an 11-6 win over Prescott. Coaches and team members include Head Coach Brain Kerr and assistants Adam Gabaldon and Derek Drish and players Josh Schlegel, John Ayala, Angelo Alvarez, Maxon Taylor, Anthony Rivera, Dante Gabaldon, Ryan Lindsay, Malaki Owens, Ben Miranda, Travis Lundgren, Grady Drish, Spencer Kerr, Zach Harrison.

Dr. Brad Williams wins Bike The Bluff Arizona Championship Road Race
When Verde Valley orthopedic surgeon Dr. Brad Williams finished 10th a year ago in Show Low's annual Bike The Bluff Arizona State Championship Road Race, he knew he could do better.

He was right.

A year later, the Cornville cyclist is the new Category 5 Arizona State Champion.

Hole In One
Pine Shadows Golf Course Pro Shop Manager Julie Tykwinski reports that Austin Garcia of Camp Verde recorded his first Hole in One on July 2 while golfing in the annual Contreras family reunion. He aced the 155 yd. fourth hole using a 8 iron. Proud witnesses included his dad, grandpa, and uncle.

Match Play Champion
Norm Newell won the 2014 Match Championship at Verde Santa Fe Golf Club. Norm has now won two of the three Verde Santa Fe Men's Club Tournaments this year. President Scott Robinson presents Norm his Match Play trophy. The Verde Santa Fe Men's Club welcomes golfers of all abilities from the scratch golfer to the high handicapper. Three years after being paralyzed for second time, Hellmold finishes Mickelsen 2-mile walk
After getting paralyzed and having to learn to walk again not once but twice in his lifetime (the second time in 2011), Cottonwood resident Pete Hellmold was able to start, and finish, the 2-mile walk/run portion of the 2014 Brian Mickelsen race, thanks to his self-admitted hard-headedness and the help and support of people he has met in Cottonwood and Sedona.
