Despite a slew of athletes being given post-season all-section awards, only a single student-athlete was named to an all-division team, Mingus Union senior Austin Zwart.
Zwart, a four-year varsity player, began the season as part of the Marauders' strong rotation and playing first base. A late season injury put him on ice defensively, but Zwart was still able to bat and for his hard work through the season, was named to the Division-II all-division second team.
During his final year as a Marauder, Zwart landed in the top-15 in five different categories. His batting average (.553, No. 15), fielding percentage (1.0, No. 11), home run count (seven, No. 14), RBI's (51, No. 3) and slugging percentage (.988, No. 11) show why he was named to the all-division second team.
Through 30 games played in 2014, Zwart tallied 47 hits on 85 at bats, scored 26 runs and hit 16 doubles. He was walked 12 times and struck out 10 times while accumulating a .598 on base percentage.
When he was able to pitch (two appearances and four innings), Zwart tallied a 3.50 ERA with one save. He only allowed two hits and two runs against one walk and three strikes.
He ends his career as a Marauder with a .409 batting average, .461 on base percentage, 119 hits, 136 RBIs and 69 runs. He was walked 30 times and went down swinging 36 at bats.
Defensively Zwart ends his high school career with a .964 fielding percentage, 292 put outs and 34 assists against 12 errors (including five double plays). He tallied a 3.00 ERA through four years at Mingus, striking out 92 batters, walking 43 and allowing 104 hits and 79 runs. He recorded 10 wins and six losses while throwing five complete games, one shutout and one save.
