Makayla Sallee, Haley Teague, and Aimee Oium received All-American honors for exceptional skills displayed at Universal Cheer Association Camp this summer.

"We went to UCA and six people from each team performed in front of the whole camp. We had to do a dance and a cheer while judges scored everyone. The top 12 percent got All American," said Makayla Sallee.

The All-American title qualified the three Camp Verde cheerleaders to participate in the 2013 London New Year's Day Parade. The trip is slated for December 26 through January 2, but to make it across the pond the girls must raise $4,000 each by November 1.

The girls wrote a letter asking for community support. One paragraph in the letter reads, "It is with great respect that we ask you to sponsor our trip or to donate raffle items for a fund raiser. We will be selling raffle tickets one for $1 or six for $5 with a drawing held Sept. 21."

If the girls raise enough money, the experience will be the first oversees trip to a foreign country for all three of them. They're pretty determined to make it happen, but they can't get there alone.

"We've got a long way to go to raise enough money for the trip," the girls said. "If people want to donate they can contact Daphne Teague." Her phone number is 928-821-0760.

The girls said they feel the whole squad, not just the three of them, have a good shot to advance to state this year.

At the time they were interviewed, the Camp Verde football team was loosing 25-0 to Williams. When asked if it was hard to cheer for a struggling team, Aimee Oium said, "Yeah, it can be hard, but our job is to keep everyone's spirit up, so that's what we try to do."
