Mingus girls at Sedona
SEDONA - The Sedona Scorpions girls basketball team defeated the visiting Mingus Marauders Friday night, 48-43.

Down at halftime, the Mingus girls came out strong in the second half despite Seairah Ebert going down in the third quarter with an apparent sprained ankle.

Torey Gillies had success offensively all night and shot a nice percentage from the free throw line. Joni Olson was the most active player on the court, but the Scorpions pulled away down the stretch by getting easy buckets around the hoop and hitting jump shots.

Mingus boys at Sedona
SEDONA - After beating Camp Verde the night before in a nail biter, the Marauders boys basketball team came into Sedona with a lot of confidence. Mingus controlled the game against the Scorpions from start to finish, winning 70-50.

Alex Brewer and Evan McFarland dominated the boards early in the contest and Mingus gained over a 10-point lead in the first quarter.

"We took advantage of being faster than them, just getting inside with good position and out rebounding them," said McFarland.

The red and gray played fast and loose, scoring 25 points in transition as they cruised to victory and secured a four-game win streak - the longest for the Marauders in recent memory.

"Practices are a lot harder this year, but they're making us ten times better," said McFarland.
The win brings the Marauders overall record to 8-13 (5-8 in power point games).

A game at Camp Verde awaits the Marauders Tuesday. The Cowboys play very well on their home floor and they'll be looking for revenge.
