PRESCOTT VALLEY - Mingus Union HS qualified four wrestlers for the Division III state tournament: Seniors Hank Goettl (152 pounds), Chase Reams (160 pound), Canaan Doering (182 pounds), and sophomore Wyatt Midkiff (195 pounds). Goettl placed second and Chase Reams placed fifth.

Goettl wrestled at 145 pounds for much of the season, but qualified for the state tournament at 152 and made it all the way to the championship. Jesus Barrera from Amphitheater edged him out, 10-6.

Reams was one win away from the finals, but Andrew Capirchio from Fountain Hills pinned him in the second period.

Midkiff got a bad draw in the first round. He had to wrestle Jacob Badger from Blue Ridge, the eventual champion. Midkiff went (2-2) at the tournament.

Thunderbird ran away with Divison III, the only team in triple figures, scoring 132.5 points. Mingus scored 40.5 points and came in 22nd place.
