|Lois Jean McGinnis|
Lois Jean McGinnis, 78, passed away on April 2, 2013 at Mingus Terrace, an assisted living facility in Cottonwood, Arizona. She was born in Cottonwood on Sept 28, 1934. She lived in the Verde Valley her entire life, until her death.
Lois grew up on small farm along the Verde River in Bridgeport with her mother, father and 2 brothers, where she was somewhat of a tomboy. As a young woman she worked at the local grocery store and played piano for the original Assemblies of God Church in Old Town. Later, she worked as an operator for “Ma Bell” telephone company before retiring to become a devoted wife & mother. She was also very devoted to her mother, Pauline Durnez.
She enjoyed the outdoors--gardening, camping, and going hunting/fishing with her friends and family. Yard sales were also a hobby of hers, where she took pleasure in searching for antiques and dolls. Lois was also a noted telephone conversationalist.
Lois has gone home to be with her beloved husband, Ernest, of 45+ years, who passed away in January of this year. She is survived by her son, Dennis McGinnis, and step-daughter, Joy Eaton.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 16 at 11 a.m., at the Cottonwood Cemetery, located at 599 N. Main St.
