Harriette (LeVering) Foy of Clarkdale died Feb. 18, 2012, at the age of 68. She was born in Aberdeen, Washington on Sept. 21, 1943, to Don Carlos and Harriette LeVering.

Harriette graduated from Elma High School and went on to attend Grace’s Harbor Community College, and received her BS from Western Washington University and MEd from NAU.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, David LeVering.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; sisters Clara Rowe of Elma, WA and Marie Raymond, of Ellensburg, WA; and four nieces, three nephews and numerous cousins.

She came to Jerome to teach at Mingus Union High School in l965 and would spend her entire career working as a physical education and health and science teacher with additional coaching duties.

In these 30 years, she established several new programs for students such as archery, tennis, square dancing, and badminton. Many stories have been told about these 30 years as she traveled with these teams from one end of the state to the other.

She was an avid tennis and badminton player herself, challenging all her co-workers and friends to a “friendly “game.

After retiring in 1995, Harriette and her husband traveled and fished throughout the Pacific Northwest, Canada and Alaska.

A celebration of her life will be held at Mingus Union High School cafeteria on Friday, Feb. 24, 4-6 p.m. All are invited to share their special stories about her and to meet her family. Harriette was loved by many friends, former students, and family members.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to Mingus Connection, 1801 East Fir, Cottonwood, AZ 86326. This organization is Mingus Union High School’s Foundation. These donations will be used for scholarships for our Mingus students.

Great-Aunt Harriette, you are and will forever be truly missed and loved. I was at the memorial at Mingus High School and I was very happy and honored that so many people knew and loved her. I didn't get as much time with her as I would have liked, but I do have fond memories of her. Thank you everyone.
