Enone E. Gordon, 89, of Rimrock, passed away February 12, 2012.
Enone was born in the Cornville Post Office July 19, 1922 to Charles and Jessie Mae Chick.
She grew up in the Post Office and so knew many of the residents of Cornville and the surrounding Verde Valley area.
Enone received her first accordion when she was nine years old. She played for dances in the Beaver Creek and Cornville dance halls and in the night clubs of Tucson in the 1940s.
Enone was also a church organist for several different churches and gave music lessons most of her adult life.
Enone is survived by her son, Douglas (Barbara) Gordon of Rimrock, AZ, daughter Melba Ferguson of Weatherford, TX, her sister Margaret Miller of Paradise Valley, AZ, two granddaughters: Nicole (David) Beger of Borne Sulinowo, Poland, and Kendra (Jerry) Wilson of Fairplay, CO, six great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Enone was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bernell Gordon, whom she married October 15, 1950, and by her granddaughter Cheryl Goodson.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Beaver Creek Baptist Church, 3705 East Beaver Creek Road, Lake Montezuma, AZ. Condolences may be left for the family at www.norvelowensmortuary.com
