Barbara Joyce (Desserich) Blanton was born in Phoenix, Ariz., to I.C. & Dorothy (Briggs) Desserich on February 17, 1935 and died March 21, 2011 in Prescott Valley AZ. She grew up in Phoenix and graduated from Phoenix Union High School. Her family traveled, camped and fished every summer. She recalled these times with fondness.
She was the youngest of 5 children, Phyllis, Ed, Beverly and Betty. She married David G. Perkins in 1956 and moved out to the family ranch, Perkinsville, AZ. They had 5 children. She married Glen Blanton on Feb. 3, 1986. He preceded her in death in 2005.
She enjoyed playing card games and Yahtzee, especially with her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted mother who often said she lived for her children. She was an avid Diamondbacks fan. She loved watching the ball games with her best friend, Howard Myers.
She is survived by her children Dottie (Randy) Halter, Patti (Ben) Kimball, Shirley Seitz, David Alex Perkins and Nick Perkins; 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, her step-children Diane Johnson, Robert Blanton, Lindy Strand, Rick Blanton and Glenda Ricio; sisters Phyllis Carbine and Beverly Wagstaff ; sister-in-law Lee Desserich and her good friend Howard Myers.
A Celebration of her life will be held at 2:30, Sat, March 26th, at American Evangelical Lutheran Church in Prescott.
