PUT OUT THE TRASH
When I was a young man I used to argue with my fellow teamsters about Jimmy Hoffa, and many other Teamster leaders, stealing from the membership. The counter- argument some of the came up with always baffled me - "Yeah, but look how much he has gotten for us." I always shot back that we paid him more than the U.S. President was currently making so he didn't need to steal to make ends meet. Recently I have heard some guests on news and talk shows express the opinion that Jesse Jackson's conviction for theft and fraud are a "tragedy for the civil rights movement." Why? Unless members are as guilty as he for fraud and theft, they should, as in Hoffa's case, say "Good riddance to bad trash."
