Jump starting the week
By Ted Grussing
Jump starting... the week and another day wide open for wonderful and magical things to happen. This hen mallard was looking for new places to go that did not include me and I got this shot of her just after she left the water and with a powerful stroke was initiating a sharp bank and turn to the right .. drops of water flying everywhere. Sometimes I feel a bit guilty jumping them, but a camera is a much better way to do it than what I used to do ... they get to fly away and I can shoot them another day :+)
It was a good if somewhat quiet weekend; some flying, walking here and at the ponds, going through old boxes sorting and throwing. Came across a bunch of letters I wrote to Corky after we were married, and she stayed behind in Minneapolis with my folks while she studied for and took the State Boards to get her RN. Fun reading them and remembering those days and all that followed. Our daughters will soon be getting boxes which include all the early writings they did and art projects. Have not opened these boxes for over twenty years. The trash can is over flowing, but in about six hours it will be empty again ... the important things will be in the mail or safely stored again.
I'm actually taking a couple of days off this week to go shoot some landscape photos and will have some shots (I hope) to send out later this week. Good heavens, me using a tripod? Oh well, I own some really nice ones so it will be fun to finally use them outside of the studio ... long and multiple exposures demand their use.
LED light bulbs are transitioning into the house; seventeen in and another eighteen on the way. Putting them in the fixtures most in use and then keep incandescent for the rest. I like the light from the LED's too.
Have a really good day and how could it be otherwise? You and you alone determine how you view the day.
Cheers ... smiles
But from the brooding beauty of the night, and daily dancing shafts of golden sun ...
The mystery and wonder of the world ... that play the soundless music of the soul
And fill the heart with memory's olden dreams ... From these will come at last your faith in God.
