All in all it was a very good year; I wish that Corky could have made it until Christmas, but that was not to be. As she did throughout her life she enjoyed every day that was gifted to her and it was my privilege to share a life together with her for so many years. We always had fun and were on the go ... this is the first Christmas in fifty five years that she was not physically present with me at Christmas and she is missed. It is a different sort of life and the responsibilities of caregiving have been lifted. It is a new world that I am entering and learning to function in again as One and I move forward ... and it is good ... we're doing okay!.
Spent a lot of time with friends the past few days and also have spent a lot of time in the air as well. When I come home, One and I race around the house and afterwards she spends time on my chest snuggling up and we both rest a bit. She let me finish my espresso this morning while it was still hot ... an improvement over the last few weeks. I spent time on the deck this afternoon and that too is good.
Life continues, and while the way forward is a little uncertain I do know that it will be what I choose. Life and nature proceed as they should and every moment presents us with the opportunity to make choices that will make our lives better going forward. Christmas is a remembrance of an incredible gift made and a promise going forward. We have memories of the past, life in the present, hope for the future ... it is the choices of now that determine the memories of the past, the joy and beauty we find now and set up the possibilities for the future ... we are blessed.
So my Christmas wish is that joy and love fill your life and that a smile will always grace your countenance.
Thank you ... Merry Christmas ... and be of good cheer.
Ps the photos were taken on the 24th; the first one is up at the peaks and I thought it would be a cool shot to get the reflection of Snow Bowl on the wing; lots of skiers on the slopes too; the second shot I took as I was gliding back into Sedona airport ... up on the plateau you can see the San Francisco peaks where I took the first shot ... the airport is just above the nose ... what fun!
