View from Above
By Ted Grussing
On Saturday... Corky and I again returned to the quietude of the sky and I took a few photos of the area from five or so miles south of Sedona looking north. On the right below center is part of the Village of Oak Creek, lower left quadrant is the Loop area, Cross Creek Ranch and of course Oak Creek wends its way south; follow the dark green ribbon to the north traveling below airport mesa and into Oak Creek Canyon. The city is left, right and north of the airport and Wilson Mountain is just above the airport, The San Francisco Peaks are shrouded in a storm cell and you can see several of these monsoon storm cells roving the Colorado Plateau.
Anyhow we had a good time and we worked lift as strong as 850 feet per minute over Wilson, so the soaring was definitely good too.
Into another busy week with friends and family coming for visits and of course Cork and I will likely get at least one flight in this week ... and other adventures as well.
Have a terrific day and share a few smiles with those you meet today. Life is good ... so are most people.
