... tis that time of year when nature dictates the continuation of all species shall begin the process of reproduction and continuation of the species. Flowers and trees in bloom and most species pairing up and all is not lost on our friends at Bubbling Ponds Hatchery where the few remaining ducks are pairing up and there are a few too many males and they are not welcome once the hen has paired up with another male. I got this photo on Friday and it shows a drake Ringneck chasing a suitor for his hen off. I didn't get the translation of what he was saying, but imagine it was more colorful than the words I ascribed to him. It is a fun time to be shooting down there, or anywhere as behaviors reach sometimes comedic levels ... to me, not them.
Another Monday well underway and glad for it. Later today I'll be finishing up the van conversion clean up and begin getting it ready for the trip in June. A change of plans as the Minnesota/Wisconsin part will be done by air travel and a longer segment spent in California as I want to photograph the beaches up and down the coast. Retired or not, days off for a fulltime caregiver are rare and precious. The northern California coast in particular is calling me ... Thallata, Thallata! A throwback to the Anabasis by Xenophon ... I need to pick up my Greek books again too...
Have a terrific day and enjoy the wonders of life and nature ... they are endless
