Pax vobiscum

 By Ted Grussing

... amid the tempests of the stormy day the beauty of the Peace Lily quiets the soul and reminds one of that which is ... earth and beyond ... worlds we shall never see but can only wonder at or dream of. But then this is a good place and the love of friends and family makes each day worth making it to the end.

My friend Eileen will occasionally use a photo to take flight with her art form of poetry and such was the case when she opened yesterday's email and saw the photo. Following is her poem and thank you Eileen, I like it.

Yucca Woman

stands by herself

shaggy hair fluttering

in an evening breeze

her habitat the night

her companions shadows

neither bird nor bat

but keep their distance

for she is not welcoming

she wanders alone

animated by the lack of light

in the morning sun

she disappears

cannot be found

she leaves in her stead

a hollow shell

dead bent

fixed and still

perched upon her head

a brooding vulture

waiting like she.

It was a good day, Corky is resting and soon I will be too; a fresh roast of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee will be ground and brewed in about six hours and I may get a record number of hours of sleep tonight. Resuming work tomorrow and continuing to reply to all the nice emails we have received.

I bought the Lambada Motorglider so that Corky and I could fly together and since that will no longer be happening it is up for sale. A lot of pilots on the list so if you have any interest give me a call. In the meantime there are still hours to be spent in the solitude and wonder of the sky.

Have a wonderful day. We are blessed ... we can always be a blessing to others too ... just a smile will do.
