8/15/2009 10:58:00 PM Golden Anniversary for Les and Joyce Kolbeck
Les and Joyce Kolbeck were married August 17, 1959, in St. Mary's Catholic Church at Salem South Dakota. They were engaged in farming and then moved to Rapid city, South Dakota where Les was employed as a carpenter. He worked for the State Game, Fish and Parks dept. as Custer State Park. They also owned and operated a taxidermy business in Rapid City. Les began his career as a firefighter with the City of Rapid City in 1970 and remained there until his retirement in 1986 at which time they moved to Cottonwood. Joyce was a bookkeeper/secretary in both South Dakota and Arizona. She was a ranger with the Arizona State Parks at Red Rock and Dead Horse, retiring from the department in 2005. A celebration of their 50th Anniversary was held in mid July with family and friends at Calamity Peak Lodge near Custer, S.D. The couple has five children, three daughters Kim and Richard Palu of Black Hawk, S.D., Kathy and Randy Blume of Chino Valley, and Karmyn Kolbeck of Cottonwood and two sons, Ken and Jacki Kolbeck of Portland, Ore., and Karl and Brandi Kolbeck of Lubbock, Texas. They also have six grandchildren.
