Golden Anniversary

Dick and Gladys Bridgewater recently celebrated 50 years of marriage on a cruise along the Mexican Riviera. They were accompanied on the cruise by their twin daughters, Rena and Renee, and their youngest daughter, Robin, and her husband Pat McCarthy. Dick met the former Gladys Andrus shortly after his separation from the Air Force in Las Vegas, Nev., in March of 1958. They were married there Dec. 13, 1958. Dick says 13 has always been a lucky number for him. The twins were born in Las Vegas in March, 1960.They moved to Arizona in 1962 and Robin was born in Flagstaff on New Year's Day, 1964. They moved to Cottonwood in 1973 after nine years in Phoenix.. Both became active in community affairs and Dick served three terms on the Cottonwood City Council, four as Vice Mayor. In 1975, Gladys opened Fashion Crossroads which she still operates from the same location today. Dick bought the Radio Shack franchise in 1979 and operated it for over 17 years before selling it back to the parent company. He is now retired. When he retired Dick was asked where he intended to settle. He replied, "Why move? I already live in the greatest community there is."
