Unsung Hero

This month’s Yavapai County Unsung Hero Award was earned by Richard Shay, who was nominated by Steve Schmidt on behalf of the Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Schmidt was on hand for the presentation of the award to Rich along with many members of the Cottonwood Chamber. Mr. Schmidt said Rich that he is an amazing man and he deserves the recognition for all that he does for his community. Mr. Shay has been volunteering for the Chamber of Commerce for approximately four years. Rich is the go-to guy when there is work to be done. Mr. Schmidt says that while the so called important people are standing around smiling, shaking hands and trying to look important, Richard is out there getting things done. He makes himself available, is completely reliable, always in good humor and never complains. He has volunteered for the Halloween Festival, National Night Out, Air Fest, and the Jacob Teague Memorial Softball Tournament to name just a few of the activities.

Congratulations Rich! I can't think of anyone who more deserves this recognition.

Congratulations to Richard! I always enjoy seeing that smiling face as he directs traffic and does so much to help others during all sorts of events in Cottonwood. And, Richard always has a friendly word for me, too. I am very glad he received the award this month. .
