25th Verde Valley Toy Run to bring Christmas cheer this weekend

COTTONWOOD - Everyone know that it is that time of year again, when a little ho, ho, ho sputters from the exhaust of dozens of bikes.

Sunday, Nov. 22, is the 25th anniversary of the Verde Valley Toy Run, when bikers have fun and benefit needy kids throughout the Verde Valley.

Register from 8:30 until 10 a.m. in the Cottonwood Wal-Mart parking lot at SR260 and Rodeo Drive.

Once bikers are lined up for the traditional parade, the Toy Run always begins with a blessing and takes off for a great ride and free "poker run" through the Verde Valley.

This year's stops include the Rockin' B in Cottonwood, Sundowners in West Sedona, Stakes and Sticks in Tlaquepaque Sedona, Full Moon Saloon on SR179 in the Village, Page Springs Restaurant in Cornville and back to the Verde Valley Fairgrounds to celebrate.

The entry fee is $20.00 per person plus a new unwrapped toy. Participants receive a VVTRXXV anniversary lapel pin, free "poker run," Bike & Hot Rod Parade through Cottonwood & Clarkdale, entry to the Fairgrounds, Dinner, and the Bike & Car Show.

Everyone is welcome at the Verde Valley Fairgrounds from 12:30 until 5:00 p.m. where an Anniversary lapel pin or meal ticket can also be purchased. There will be live music by "A Pair of Jacks" featuring The Stonewall Band, food, auction, raffles, bike show, car show, awards, vendors, a 50/50 drawing and much more.

For 25 years Funds raised from the Toy Run have routinely provided Christmas gifts for under-privileged Verde Valley children. Toy Run supporters, who just wish to join us at the Verde Valley Fairgrounds, bring $5 and an unwrapped new toy or package of diapers for admission to the Fair Grounds from 12:30 to 5 p.m.

Children in the Verde Valley need your support especially during the Holiday Season. In previous years, your generosity has made the Christmas Holidays magical for more than 1500 children. Vendors are encouraged to call for more information.

There is no charge to set up but Vendors and area businesses are being asked to call the info number below and donate a raffle prize, new toys or cash in lieu of fees. Trophies for the Car & Bike Show and awards for the most funds raised will be announced at the Fairgrounds.

"In the Season of Giving, a toy for every child in need of joy in the Verde Valley. In the Season of Plenty...let us fill local food pantries."
