go to jail?
Thomas J. Sauceda was arrested Wednesday for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was found to be in possession of 8.5 ounces of marijuana while at Dead Horse State Park.
Cottonwood officers were called to the State Park to help park rangers with the eviction of Sauceda. The 36-year-old man had rented a cabin the day before, but was now past his check-out time and had not renewed the cabin for another night.
During the previous evening, Sauceda was said to have come to the camp host residence knocking loudly on their door. When they answered the door ,the camp host said that Sauceda "reeked of marijuana." When officers arrived Sauceda could not be located, however, several of his belongings were scattered around in and outside of the residence.
While gathering the items, Dead Horse Rangers located several bags containing about 243 grams of marijuana as well as other paraphernalia.
Sauceda was contacted a short time later at the visitor center where he was asked about, and admitted to, the marijuana. Sauceda was cited and released from the scene. Before being released Sauceda asked officer for a final request: "Can you leave me at least one bowl of marijuana before you take it?"
His request was denied.
