COTTONWOOD -- Demolition began in earnest this week to tear down the former United Rental building on SR 89A at Justin Drive.

Ray Barger, construction superintendent for Buffalo Construction, says the demolition should take only a few days.

He expected a building permit would follow shortly afterward.

On Monday, the Cottonwood Planning Commission was expected to sign off on the Tractor Supply monument sign.

Buffalo Construction is based out of Louisville and is one of several contractors that build as many as 60 Tractor Supply stores each year, according to Barger, who says all trade employees are always hired locally.

The company has 1,200 stores in 46 states and is based in Brentwood, Tenn.

The first Tractor Supply store was built in Prescott Valley early this year. Barger says this one will be a little larger at 21,000 square feet with another 15,000 in fenced sales area.

The company sells products for home improvement, agriculture, lawn and garden, livestock, horse and pet care.

I am thrilled that TS is coming here! By the same token I will continue to buy from Olsen's and Verde Hay Market.
Personally, I would buy online before driving all the way to PV and I would never drive to PHX for any shopping need.
TS carries a lot of things that will not compete with our local stores. ACE will still have every piece of hardware you can imagine. HD will still have lumber of average quality.
TS will have top quality fencing, lawn and garden supplies and items that the locals don't carry. It is one more choice.
TS probably chose to come here because we still have large number of small to mid size farmers. We need stuff and Wal Mart and HD have gone too urban. I think it is box store against box store.
Some folks were worried about Big 5. Um... are they even still here?

I like TS as much as the next person, but I'm tired of big box stores expanding and putting local businesses at risk. I think the one PV is close enough. Funny they didn't go to Phoenix, Tucson, Yuma, etc. and leave the small town be.

Awesome! Now we have a choice in this town for building materials, lawn, garden and livestock supplies. Good luck Home Depot.

Yay! I love Tractor Supply! In NJ I worked for CT Farm and Country which was purchased by Tractor Supply. They are the very best store. I'm very happy!!!
