Cottonwood Middle School students collect 6,336 pounds of food for Old Town Mission
Ms. Zolman’s seventh grade Challenger homeroom took the title of winning classroom. The students in her room brought in almost 950 pounds of food. The combined eighth grade classes  brought in nearly 3000 pounds of food. In case you spotted a student staggering down the street weighed down by potatoes, that would be a CMS student bringing home the donation.

A hotly contested Cottonwood Middle School Food Drive netted 6,336 pounds for the Old Town Mission. Teachers and students alike got into the fun and competition by sending spies into competing classes, and by stashing food out of site until the final weigh in. The Old Town Mission and those in need are the recipients of this wonderful school activity.

There is a pizza party for the winning class, but the real incentive was team competition and school spirit bound in community involvement! Congratulations to the students and families of Cottonwood MIddle School~ (Next activity--- the Warm Winter Clothing Coin Drive!)

Student council sponsored our annual food drive to help the Old Town Mission.  We set a school wide goal of 3,500 lbs.  Student council offered a pizza party for the winning homeroom (with the most lbs.) for each grade level.  The Old Town Mission also offered a root beer float party for the class who brought in the most food in the school.  We easily met our goal, our students brought in a total of 6,336 pounds of food.  This is a school record for the most pounds of food brought in for at least the past 15 years.  The winning homerooms were:

• 6th grade:  Ms. Forbes 733 pounds

• 7th grade:  Mrs. Zolman 949 pounds (also the highest in the school)

• 8th grade:  Mrs. Jensen 667 pounds
