The company that ran most of the kayak tours in the Clarkdale stretch of the Verde River last year has not executed permits to operate tours for 2015 as of Thursday morning. Kayak outfitters have to put down a partial deposit on permits before they can execute them.

Jail's mental health unit taking shape
CAMP VERDE - Inside the Yavapai County jail is a 30-room dormitory undergoing a makeover so it stands out from the rest: the thick steel doors are painted a forest green rather than the standard steel blue and the walls are to be a cream color with an earthy brown base. A portion of the main floor will be earth-tone carpet rather than the institutional tan-pattern linoleum tile.

CAMP VERDE - On March 21, the Gaver family from Idaho was involved in a brawl with police in the Cottonwood Walmart parking lot. Officers were called to the store after a Walmart employee allegedly was shoved against the wall in the bathroom by one of the Gavers.

Feeding troubles no more; 707 Ranch creates Horse Pill Carrier
CAMP VERDE - Nancy Pohlman resident of Camp Verde and owner of 707 Ranch LLC was recently having trouble with feeding her horse who needed special medication. She was struggling with the dilemma of fending off other horses when having to feed Tejon, who needs special medication, and she wanted to make sure that Tejon ate the pill and didn't spit it back out because of its taste.

Council hearing planned Tuesday on Clarkdale cell tower
CLARKDALE -- From the looks of it, the Clarkdale Town Council will have a full house Tuesday night.

A proposed cellular communications tower has whipped area residents into a frenzy. Yard signs are posted in the subdivision near where the cell tower is proposed encouraging neighbors to attend the Clarkdale Council meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Clark Memorial Clubhouse.
