Finally home: Recovered remains of Clarkdale World War II veteran laid to rest
On April 10, 1944, Herbert V. Young Jr., 23, of Clarkdale, Ariz., was among 11 B-24D Liberator crew members who took off from Texter Strip, Nazdab Air Field, New Guinea, on a mission to attack an anti-aircraft site at Hansa Bay. The aircraft was shot down by enemy anti-aircraft fire over the Madang Province, New Guinea. Four of the crewmen were able to parachute from the aircraft, but were reported to have died in captivity.

PRESCOTT - Eric G. McNeill, sentenced to 27 years in prison last December after a jury found him guilty of kidnapping and a child sex charge, on Monday was able to knock seven years off his prison term because of an error on the jury's verdict form.

WWII remains of Clarkdale man returned to Arizona
PRESCOTT - The remains of 1st Lt. Herbert V. "Buddy" Young Jr., who was missing in action for more than 70 years after his plane was shot down in World War II, will be coming home for burial this week at the Prescott National Cemetery.

And, the daughter who never knew him, Diana Young Long, will be able to, at last, welcome her father back to his homeland and bid him farewell.

Born June 6, 1920, Young grew up in Clarkdale. He played football at Clarkdale High School and later at Arizona State University.

Early ballots sent out; nonpartisan ballot questions still carry controversy
Judges and seven ballot measures are on the list of nonpartisan decisions voters are going to make this election.

Early ballots have started going out, but Yavapai County voters can't check the performances of six judges on the ballot.

The county is among 12 others in the state whose judges are not subject to a review process established by voters in 1974.
