COTTONWOOD -- There was a robbery and home invasion at a residence in the 900 block of Rio Verde Circle in Cottonwood early Saturday morning, according to Yavapai County Sheriff's detectives.
Deputies spoke with a female victim in her 50's who explained that 3 men forcibly entered her home sometime around 4 AM, tied her up, and stole property. The victim was not physically injured or assaulted otherwise. The suspects told her they were armed.
The suspect vehicle is a black Nissan Maxima - possibly a 2005 or 2006 --- with the passenger windows all blacked out like tint on limo-passenger windows. It has an Arizona Cardinal license plate, said Dwight D'Evelyn of the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.
The crime occurred around 4 a.m. at the Rio Verde Circle home. D'Evelyn said three suspects forced their way into the home, which was occupied by a woman who was not injured during the robbery. The suspects said they were armed and property was taken from the home, although the specific items will not be disclosed at this time, said D'Evelyn.
The suspect vehicle was possibly seen in the area Friday night and detectives are working leads.

Three investigators at the scene gathered evidence in the backyard at a gate and two investigators walked the neighborhood talking with other residents, looking for tracks along Rio Verde Circle.
The police investigators were asking residents if they saw anything suspicious during the night.
No other homes in the neighborhood were broken into, said D'Evelyn.

Use A gun
Use a gun...I have one ready. It is my right to protect my family. And my property. I am glad she was not killed, she is traumatized for sure. I hope they catch them.

Home invasions and burglaries are on the rise mostly due to the weak economy and high unemployment. People must take action to lower the chances of being victimized. Three of the best things you can do to protect yourself and your property is to reinforce your doors and windows, plus have a personal protection device. About 85% of burglars come through a door, so first you should reinforce your entry doors with a door security device . Second, about 15% of burglars come through a window and so you should install security window film (3M brand is good) and good window locks. And finally, you need to get some type of personal protection device in case you are ever confronted by an intruder. Pepper spray (or even wasp and hornet spray) is a good choice because it's easy to use and it's highly effective.
