CAMP VERDE -- Yavapai County Superior Court Judge Michael Bluff has set a date in early 2015 for the trial of Robert Reed for the murder of Kristal Forest and 25 other counts.

Judge Bluff agreed with the prosecution in its motion that the case should be classified as "complex." The designation adjusts the time limit under the "speedy trial" provision to allow 270 days from arraignment rather than 150 days for an inmate in custody.

Bluff set the 12-day trial to begin Jan. 2, 2015, and end Jan 23.

Reed is already serving 10 years for a Maricopa County arson case.

He is alleged to have killed Kristal Forest while helping her move from Cottonwood to Austin, Texas.

Prosecutors have a witness who said Reed claimed he killed the 65-year-old woman and threw her body, wrapped in a blanket and weighted with rocks, into a river or stream in southeastern Arizona, though that location has never been determined and the woman's body has never been found.
