COTTONWOOD - Shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, Cottonwood Police were dispatched to a Pedestrian vs. vehicle accident at 960 South Main Street. When Officers arrived on scene they discovered an 11-year old boy lying in the roadway near the center of Main. Witnesses told police that two boys had attempted to cross the busy roadway near the Suzi Q market when one of the boys abruptly turned back and was struck by an oncoming car. The boy was treated at the scene by Cottonwood Fire crews and then flown to Phoenix Children's Hospital as a precaution. The child is last reported to be in stable condition with only minor injuries. No citations were issued since it was determined the driver of the vehicle was driving at or below the posted speed limit at the time of the collision.
