Kids water feature coming to Rec Center pool

COTTONWOOD - Cottonwood Parks and Recreation will be installing a beautiful new Indoor Pool Play Feature for children ages 3 through 12 during the week of Dec. 2-8. The new Play system will provide children the opportunity active play on two raised platform decks over the Lazy River area of the indoor pool. These raised decks will incorporate safe play structures for children to use along with a variety of water features components and water spray canopies.

The water feature was a part of the original design of the Rec Center along with the installation of a complete solar panel water system. Though both features were approved as part of the public vote, they were not included originally because of cost overages. With residual funds available from the original "bond initiative," after final construction, the city council decided to move forward with a priority list of upgrades. Development Services Department staff have been working steadily and the new play piece should be available for public use in mid to late December. These structures provide interactive entertainment for children, increasing their social involvement with other children, increasing physical health and fitness and providing for imaginative play.

Really? Listen to some of you! I think this is a great idea. God forbid you have to share the Rec Center with children! Last time I checked children were a huge part of this community too.

Are you sure?

Did you write about that before? The reply back then was that you may have mistaken the shades for the pool as ones for the parking?

As far as who is paying... see the previous comment. Heaven forbid we cater to the future of the valley. Are you hoping to make the Rec. and adult only facility? Perhaps you and the Cornvillian Christian can hang out and tell the kids to leave? Is that really what Jesus would do? Yikes!

Per the posted article...

"Though both features were approved as part of the public vote, they were not included originally because of cost overages. With residual funds available from the original "bond initiative," after final construction, the city council decided to move forward with a priority list of upgrades."

It came from the orig. funds. After reviewing some meeting minutes and watching council meetings online it was from $ left after the solar pool heating was installed.

As for Mr. Tinen- just imagine the fun you can have now! Rather than sitting at home telling kids to get off your lawn you can yell at kids to get out of your pool while enjoying the lazy river.

Bonus!

First they constructed just a few covered parking spaces and not for the handicapped either. Now for the children's enjoyment. Are the kids going to be paying for this equipment? They may not get my money next year if all we're doing is catering to children.

Another demonstration of an out of touch city. Waste of money and resources and a fine way to ruin the lazy river.
