CAMP VERDE -- Two Yavapai County men are waiting to find out if their names will be added to those on Death Row should they be convicted of murder.
Joseph Montiel is waiting for the clock to wind down on an April 2 extension of notice. A court hearing has been scheduled April 12 for both the prosecution and defense to lay out their arguments.
Montiel is charged with stabbing to death his estranged wife Jamie Treakle Montiel and then abandoning the body near a mine shaft off the old Cherry Road, south of the county jail in Camp Verde. The murder is believed to have occurred Aug. 16.
Meanwhile, a former Yavapai County man, Jack Rider, is charged with killing Krystil Wilson, of Bullhead City, while swimming at Beasley Flats, in Camp Verde July 19, 2007. U.S.
Marshal's caught up with Rider in Pensacola, Fla., Oct. 30, 2012. He had been living there with his wife and child and training to become a detention officer.
A case management conference has been set for May 7th in Superior Court Division 2.
