Schedule for the visit of the replica AVTT Vietnam Memorial Wall
Special Easter Sunday Service at ‘The Wall’
COTTONWOOD -- A special Service will be held Easter Sunday morning on the Cottonwood Middle School playing field, at the placement of the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall will be placed. The service will be officiated by Pastor "papadave" Treadwell of the United Methodist Church

This is an open, non-denominational, Christian service for everyone who is a veteran, or had a family member who is, or was, a veteran and especially those that have lost a loved one in any war in which the U.S. was engaged.

The service will be held beginning at 10 a.m., Easter Sunday morning, March 31. Communion will be offered.

Cottonwood Middle School is located at 500 E. Mingus Avenue, Cottonwood.

COTTONWOOD -- As part of the second annual Verde Valley Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans, organizers and donors have scheduled a visit by the American Veterans Traveling Tribute replica Vietnam War Memorial Wall.

The will be on display in Cottonwood from Thursday through noon Sunday March 30. The 370-foot long 80 percent aluminum replica will be mounted on the playing field of the Cottonwood Middle School.

About 40 volunteers are contributing their time and energy. The organization has also assembled veterans' organizations from throughout the Verde Valley to participate.

Between the opening and closing, veterans and others may visit the wall 24 hours each day. Organizations will provide security for the wall and for visitors during that time.

The Ride of Honor and the Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Celebration takes place Saturday off site at the Cottonwood Kids Park, next to the Verde Valley Fairgrounds, at 12th and Cherry, in Cottonwood.

Thursday March 28

7 a.m. -- Volunteers arrive to begin assembly of Wall

Noon -- Wall opens

Posting of Colors by VFW Post 7400 Honor Guard

Pledge of Allegiance led by VFW Post 7400 CDR., David Gorman

National Anthem sung by Mikel Swank

Laying of the POW/MIA and Gold Star Mothers wreaths

Blessing for the Wall and Exhibits by Jim Brown, Immaculate Conception

5:30 p.m. -- Evening Ceremony

Retire the Colors by VFW Post 7400 Honor Guard

Taps played by Art Gallegos, VFW Post 7400



Friday March 29

8 a.m. -- Reveille

Posting of the Colors by the Cottonwood CAP Color Guard

Pledge of Allegiance, led by CAP Cadet Sr. Airman Tyler Melton

National Anthem, sung by Danielle Glick, Mingus Union High School

6 p.m. -- Evening Ceremony

Invocation by Tim Hall

Retire the Colors by Cottonwood CAP Color Guard



Saturday, March 30

8 a.m. -- Reveille

Posting of the Colors by Marine Corps League, Verde Valley Chapter Color Guard

Pledge of Allegiance

National Anthem sung by Karla Bonner

8:30 a.m. -- Ride of Honor. Guest of Honor Michael Ferguson, Cdr. Dept. of Arizona Veterans of Foreign Wars (bikers proceed to Red Rock High School, Sedona, to begin)

11:30 a.m. -- Ride through Valley, ending at the Cottonwood Kids Park for Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day celebration. (not at Wall site)

5 p.m. -- Begin sale of memorial luminaries at Wall (benefits next year's WHVVD events)

5:30 p.m. -- Evening Ceremony
