King Features characters help welcome Vets

Beetle Bailey and Betty Boop, two of the cartoon characters of the King Feature Syndicate were on hand at the Cottonwood Council Meeting Tuesday night. The characters are in town as part of the publicity to advertise the Second Annual Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day, a celebration for vets and others on Saturday March, 30. The event will be held at the Cottonwood Kids Park starting at 1 p.m. Following a Posting of the Colors, Girls Scouts will lead the Pledge of Allegiance , the National Anthem will be sung by local award-winning vocalist Eli Torok-Bachar. Mayors Diane Joens of Cottonwood, Rob Adams of Sedona and Mayor Bob Burnside of Camp Verde will address the event. The Knights of Columbus will be serving food and beverages. The Neon Raiders and other bands will supply the live entertainment. Festivities include free food, live entertainment and information on Veteran's benefits. Cottonwood Area Transit will provide transportation between Cottonwood Kid's Park and the Replica of the Vietnam Wall, at Cottonwood Middle School's football field.
