fees for Mingus
The Cottonwood City Council has agreed to waive $3,270 in re-zoning fees for Mingus Union High School.
The school administration wants to rezone 22 acres of land Mingus owns on the west side of Camino Real.
The long-term plan is to sell the land to generate money to benefit school operations.
The land is currently zoned Agricultural 43, meaning the zoning only allows one home for every 1.6 acres. The school wants to increase the zoning density to single-family residential in order to improve its eventual sale value
Voters approved the public sale of the land in 2006 at the same times as they voted in a bond for capital improvements at Mingus. The school, however, delayed sale of the property when real estate took a nose dive during the floundering economy of the recession that began in the following year.
