PRESCOTT-- Thursday, Jan. 31, Sheriff Scott Mascher presented Sharon Block, Yavapai County Community Foundation (YCCF) Board Co-Chair, with the "Organization of the Year" award. This recognition acknowledges the greatly appreciated ongoing financial support YCCF has provided the Sheriff's K9 teams throughout the past several years. Since 1996, the Foundation has granted over $59,000 in support of the deputies, volunteers, and their K9 partners.

The funding has been a critical component of the overall program allowing the purchase of necessary equipment which clearly identify the K9s as police dogs. Team supervisor, Sgt. Jaeger, says the ability to provide supplies, equipment, and training with this funding means much to his team. YCSO has four patrol K9 units around Yavapai County specifically assigned to drug interdiction on major interstates and highways.

A portion of the money in recent years has been designated to support the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office Response Team's (YCSRT) Search Dog Unit, which funds search training and human remains detection. It also allowed the purchase of K9 first aid supplies, rattlesnake vaccinations, a radio and GPS unit. As a volunteer group, this funding is obviously invaluable.

I love it! Everyone is so proud to be involved in activities that help L.E.O.s violate citizens civil rights! Years down the road you'll be able to look back and tell your grandchildren, "I was instrumental in the fight to destroy the Constitution of the United States!" Yes siree, those were the days!
