Attempted flower shop robbery

COTTONWOOD -- Two young men attempted to hold up a flower shop on Cottonwood Cove Parkway Tuesday afternoon, but the clerk ran them off.

One of the men entered the front door of Flowers Unlimited while the other was apparently standing watch outside.

When the first man entered the shop, the clerk was in the back and thought a customer had come in. She said the inside man looked Hispanic, wore a grey hoodie, a grey scarf over his face and blue jeans weighing about 150 pounds and 5'5" tall.

The outside man was the same height but thinner. Both are thought to be in their 20s.

The first was holding a Glock-looking gun that the woman recognized as plastic. So, when he pushed her toward the register and yelled, "Give me the money," she refused, saying "No." The thief then said, "Give me your purse" and she threw an aerosol can at him.

At that point both men fled, one to the north and one south.

A witness with a shop behind Flowers Unlimited saw the pair pull up in an older model white car. She said they appeared suspicious as they pulled-up their hoodies before walking toward the flower shop. She was getting into her truck when she saw the two men return to their car and drive away through the Mount Hope Foods toward Main Street.

Based on their descriptions and the toy gun, it sounds like the cops should be looking for a couple of 5th graders.

No doubt in my mind that Slater Slater is either an actual child or a paid provocateur. After reading so many of their posts it's hard to imagine that their comments come from a thinking adult.

Article comment by: Flower shop employees must be armed and carry a gun at all times.

And the police officers will start doing Flower Shop Checks, kinda like they do bar checks.

sure...easy..a simple shot to the chest...

or... clerk attempts to deliver said single shot to the chest of the guy with a toy gun... the other guy intervenes and turns the gun on the clerk... oops.

of course a responsible gun owner would have the weapon in a safe place that might take a few seconds to get to or unlock... unless you advocate the clerk leaving it lying around for a customers young child to find?

so many possibilities...

glad the clerk is fine... hope they get the jerks who tried to rob the place... glad nobody is dead over it.

The witness could have gotten a license plate number and a better description of the car.
