The 67th annual Yavapai County Spelling Bee is set for Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, in the Multi-Use Complex Theater at the Camp Verde Unified School District, 280 Camp Lincoln Road, Camp Verde.
Check-in time is 10:30 a.m., and the Bee will start at 11 a.m. Public, charter, private and home school groups from across Yavapai County will be sending their school winner in hopes of becoming the next spelling champion who will represent Yavapai County in the Arizona State Spelling Bee, Saturday, March 23.
Corporate sponsor BMO Harris Bank and the Yavapai County Education Service Agency will give special recognition to first, second, third and fourth place winners. All participants will receive a complimentary lunch along with other goodies. The winner of the Arizona State Spelling Bee will then participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee held in Washington, D.C., in May.
The three judges for the spelling bee, who have generously volunteered their time are, Ray Newton, NAU professor emeritus, Trenda Vannette, professional development coordinator, Center for Teaching and Learning at NAU, and Ken Coleman, owner of Sir Speedy in Prescott.
