After competing against other FFA teams from Arizona, the Mingus Union High School FFA Chapter's three-person team won the privilege to compete at the National FFA Marketing Plan Career Development Event at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Indianapolis, Ind.
The Mingus team of McKenzie Mulcaire, Taylor Zale and Colton M. Elmer competed against 90 other teams from across the United States. Led by faculty advisor Kim Demoney, the team came home with a Silver Emblem.
The team also received cash awards. The event and the cash awards are sponsored by Bunge North American and Kerry Ingredients and Flavours as a special National FFA Foundation project.
The marketing competition was part of the 85th National FFA Convention. The marketing and career development competition is designed to help students practice and develop skills in marketing through creating and presenting a marketing plan. The students' plan focuses on the introduction of a new agricultural product, supply or service. It may focus on improving marketing for an existing product, supply or service. -Philip Wright
