Students in spotlight at Education Fair
Schools will present hands on, interactive activities

Philip Wright
Staff Reporter

VERDE VALLEY - The Yavapai County School Superintendent and all school district superintendents in the Verde Valley and Sedona are holding the Verde Valley Education Fair Oct 4 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The free event will be held at the Verde Valley Fairgrounds at 800 E. Cherry St. in Cottonwood.

Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter said the education fair is a wonderful opportunity for the community to see first-hand what students are learning in the classroom and the innovative teaching methods our teachers are using.

In fact, that is the purpose of the education fair. The fair will be devoted to hands on and interactive activities. Students from kindergarten through high school, from 14 area schools in seven districts, will be performing and demonstrating activities from their top academic programs.

Activities such as science and robotics, chorus performances, live portrait drawings, cake decorating, welding, livestock roping and many more will be featured.

The Arizona Risk Retention Trust and Credit Union West have provided four $250 classroom grants to be awarded to teachers participating at the fair. Teachers have pre-registered for the drawing. Winners will be announced during the event.

For information call Katie Granger at (928) 442-5139.
