Casey Rooney, CEO of the Cottonwood Economic Development Council and United Way of Yavapai County Board Director, presented checks to two leaders of UWYC's 13 Community Impact Initiative Programs: Christine Bryson-Lazo, executive director of the Sedona Time Bank and Karin Ward, superintendent and principal of the Beaver Creek School in Rimrock. These programs, involving over 140 county non-profits and service groups, provide services to infants, children, teens, parents, seniors and the disabled in the Verde Valley and Quad-Cities Area. On Feb. 2, UWYC distributed $30,000 to these programs, and $10,200 to 28 non-profits designated by the donor for a total of $40,200. UWYC's donations from individuals and companies are made quarterly. $162,116 was distributed by UWYC in 2011.
