6/13/2013 2:21:00 PM Cordes Junction interchange construction to be complete in two weeks
Construction on the Cordes Junction traffic interchange at Interstate 17 and State Route 69 enters into the final stages of improvements and modernization over the next two weeks, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Work will begin on Monday, June 17, and continue through to Friday, June 28, as crews apply the final layer of pavement to the roadway throughout the project.
Drivers should expect the following restrictions during the week of June 17:
Monday, June 17 and Tuesday, June 18:
Both directions of I-17 will be narrowed to one lane between 6 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday, and between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday
The on- and off-ramps at I-17 and the Arcosanti traffic interchange will be narrowed to one lane between 10 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. Tuesday
The on-ramp onto southbound I-17 from southbound SR 69 will be narrowed to one lane between 10 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. Tuesday
Wednesday, June 19:
The southbound ramp of SR 69 to southbound I-17 will be closed between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday
Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday
Full closure of Cordes Lakes Road between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 5 a.m. Thursday
Thursday, June 20:
Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane between 10 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday
A right lane restriction on the flyover bridge over I-17 between 10 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday
Full closure of Cordes Lakes Road between 10 p.m. Thursday and 5 a.m. Friday
In addition to the work above, crews will be installing permanent signs on the shoulder within the project area and the shoulders will be closed as work is performed on Stagecoach Trail, Hitching Post Way, and Copper Star and Cordes Lakes roads between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
