4/23/2013 12:50:00 PM Alert from Yavapai County Recorder
Yavapai County Recorder Leslie M. Hoffman would like to remind property owners to be careful of potential scams when it comes to letters from outside vendors instructing property owners to purchase additional copies of their property deed at an excessive price.
Property owners within several counties in Arizona have received letters soliciting additional copies of their property deed and a property profile for a fee of $83.
While the company in question uses the name "Transfer Service" they are in no way affiliated with the Yavapai County Recorder's Office.
Leslie M. Hoffman has not been able to identify if the letter is any type of scam or the actual validity of the company involved. She would however, like to remind property owners that copies of all Yavapai County Recorded documents can be obtained from the recorder's office at 1015 Fair St., in Prescott or the Cottonwood office at 10 S. Sixth St. for a nominal fee of $1 per page (deeds are usually a two or three page document) plus $3 for the certification and an additional $1 for return postage.
