Sheriff's accountant booked for $25,000 theft

PRESCOTT -- Robbin Jaeger, 44, was arrested at her home Thursday following an investigation into the theft of cash designated for accounts assigned to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office. Jaeger, a 15-year employee, was an account clerk for the Sheriff's Office during the last nine years.

Jaeger's duties included accepting cash and fee-based payments for services on behalf of YCSO. Jaeger was expected to document the receipt of these monies and deposit them to the appropriate accounts.

Jaeger's supervisor, aided by new accounting and finance software, discovered a deposit discrepancy in more than one account. The missing money was immediately brought to the attention of Command Staff for review.

The preliminary investigation, conducted by the YCSO Criminal Investigations Bureau, indicates an estimated theft of $25,000 from various accounts. YCSO will be employing an outside forensic auditor to further examine financial documents.

Jaeger's employment with the YCSO was terminated and she was booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center Jan. 10 on charges including falsify written instrument, theft-convert entrusted property, fraudulent schemes, and make false public record.

I've known this woman for 30 years, she was set up by someone higher in the department, you arrested the wrong person, and destroyed her life .... Well goes to show how our government works and operates the innocent are hungout to dry and the guilty go free.

Well the whole department is interesting ...the other "accountant" was in the middle of being garnished for non payment of credit cards then gets promoted...hmmm..really? Maybe the corruption is higher than what this appears. As she comments on other criminals "its all public record"

@concern citizen they aren't concern with getting your money back, you probably told them back when this happened that the fine had been paid. Did they investigate it? My guess is no, but this is money that belongs in YCSO accounts that is the only reason she has been arrested, not yet convicted. I would however if you have receipts for your payments to pursue it and try to get compensated in some way. GOOD LUCK you'll need it.

Who do you make a report to if she stole your money? It was years ago, she had shorter hair back then, but my fiance had paid a large fine to her that was apparently never received. He ended up spending the night in jail, having his driver's license suspended, his vehicle towed, not to mention repaying the fines he had already paid on top of a bunch of other new fines. That whole fiasco costed him about $9,500 when all was said and done. It would be nice to know if we could get some of that back now that she has been convicted.
