You're invited to participate in a special Adult Valentine Making Class with Maleita Wise at the new ARTfull Annex at Old Town Center for the Arts on Sunday, Feb. 9, from 2 to 4 p.m.

The Valentine class will be the opening class in an ongoing series taught by Maleita that will give grown-ups a chance to recapture some of the fun they either had or missed as a child. So here's your opportunity to come and make some hand made Valentine cards for your loved ones, and spend a couple of hours having some genuine, creative fun. The $15 session fee will include instruction and all materials.

The Valentine Making Class is limited to 10 people and the first class offered on February 8th is already filled, so call and reserve your spot for the Sunday afternoon class today. To make your reservation please call Maleita Wise at 928-634-3697.

Maleita Wise has spent most of her life in the Arts. With a BA in Fine Art with a Printmaking Concentration and studies in Psychology, Theology and the Expressive Arts, she created the Art Enrichment Program in Louisville, Kentucky in the early 80's and continued that work in Arizona. Art Enrichment offers after school art classes for children and has partnered with the YMCA, Louisville Visual Arts Association, and the Girl Scouts of America to make art available for children to experience. Maleita also teaches art as a tool for wellness and self-expression, and uses art to facilitate healing, especially around the area of addiction.

As a member of the Sedona Artists Coalition, Maleita has taken part in all of their shows. She is a juried member of the Northern Arizona Watercolor Society, and has been a speaker at their monthly meetings. Her paintings have won awards in Kentucky as well as Arizona, and her works are on display in galleries, restaurants, doctor offices, and in exhibitions throughout Northern Arizona. Along with her husband Joe, Maleita was the featured artist in the OTCA Theater for season 5 and her beautiful and inspired paintings were a true pleasure to be surrounded by. She has created an Artist-in-Residence program to promote the ideas of journaling and art combined to encourage health and clarity. She has also served as an art resource person for grade school children and offers workshops in beginning Visual Journals. She is currently involved with the Artist in the Classroom program and teaching children about the connection of art and nature through Gardens for Humanity.

The Valentine class will be the opening class for the new ARTfull Annex at Old Town Center for the Arts. With entry through Studio B and/or the front cottage and adjacent garden patio, The ARTfull Annex is just that, a playroom full of art stuff.

For more information and to sign up for the Valentine Making class please call 928-634-3697.
