Saturday night, Cottonwood Police were called to the 300 block of North 12th Street on a report that a man had been stabbed.
Officers found a 43-year-old Cottonwood resident Antonio Quesada with a puncture wound in his stomach.
Quesada first told officers he had been jumped in the area by an unknown man who he had gotten into a fist fight with while walking home from a bar.
However, during interviews with witnesses, officers discovered Quesada was stabbed at a residence on North 11th Street where he entered without permission to assault a woman inside. The woman reportedly was sleeping with a knife as she had an altercation with Quesada earlier in the day and was fearful he may return. The woman stabbed Quesada once in the stomach before fleeing from her residence to another house.
Quesada was transported to VVMC where he was listed in stable condition.
