The Town of Clarkdale is pleased to announce that the historic Valley View Cemetery sign has been restored and installed in its original location above the masonry pillars at the entrance to the cemetery.
The sign, which was damaged in May 2012 when a tractor trailer attempted to exit the cemetery using the main gate, was restored using the settlement from the driver's insurance.
Lou Bourque, of Welding AZ in Cornville, took on the task to complete the restoration work on the sign. He assembled a team that included W.S. Kantor, P.E. and Brian Aldrich of Arrowhead Drafting Services to design and improve the original sign. The result was a restoration using the original materials, but incorporating a taller arch to reduce the risk of repeating the accident. Bourque completed the installation of the new sign on May 14.
"From the beginning, the Town's interest was to restore the original sign, which is a piece of Clarkdale's history," stated Town Manager Gayle Mabery. "We are extremely pleased with the quality of the restoration, and happy to have the sign grace the entrance of the Valley View Cemetery again."

In our haste to get the word out about the restoration of the sign at the Valley View Cemetery, we neglected to mention that Red Rock Masonry also played an important role in the project. Our thanks to them, Lou Bourque, Bill Kantor and Brian Aldrich for undertaking this resotration project with professionalism and skill!
